Ronald Houde and Anne Perreault visited the Netherlands in the summer of 2005. They were mesmerized by the Bike & Boat vacation concept. When they returned to Québec, they sought to relive the experience, but realized that this formula simply did not exist in the “new world”. Applying the axiom: “If you want something done, you have to do it yourself”, they decided to assume a leadership role in the development of this niche in North America. They took the initiative to turn their passion into reality.
In the months that followed, they developed their corporate vision, researched Tour itineraries, and refined their concept. With business plan in hand, the contacted a variety of potential partners in order to make their dream come to life. Latitude 45º Nord was born on July 24, 2006.
In July 2008, the M/V Latitude Amsterdam (born as the Georgian Clipper) dropped moorings as the first ship in the Latitude 45º Nord fleet. For their passengers, this marked the beginning of an unforgettable experience. For Ronald and Anne, that day was the culmination of a career transition that marked a milestone in the annals of active tourism.
